IMPORTANT UPDATE: Senator Morgan McGarvey has introduced a medical cannabis bill (SB 304) that allows medical cannabis for hospice and end of life patients. This bill has a lot of support from both parties, but we need to make sure this important bill gets a chance for an actual vote. To do that, we need you to call your Legislators in the State Senate to tell them that they should vote for SB 304.
Tell them you support medical marijuana for cancer patients, veterans with PTSD, and other afflictions, you feel that even people who are against medical marijuana can’t be against it for people who are dying and at the end of their life.
Senator McGarvey’s SB 304 is our best chance to make progress this session, and we think that showing these legislators that people know the bill is there and are following whether it gets a hearing or not will make a huge difference. We think that if this bill ever gets a vote, it will pass both chambers and the Governor will sign it. That’s incredible progress in a short amount of time, but we can’t do it without your help.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL AND POLITE.
This is an emotional issue, but please don’t argue with anyone who disagrees with you. Just point out cannabis has been shown to help people at the end of their life to eat food and feel better, and that dying with dignity is a sacred human right. Politics aside, people should have the freedom to help themselves with end-of-life struggles, and families should be able to help their loved ones through their end-of-life experience without risking going to jail.
So we need you to call your State Senator to tell them that they should vote for SB 304. While it is important that you make your feelings known all the Senators, if you live in Kentucky contacting your own Senator is the most effective thing you can do. You can find out how to contact your own legislator by clicking on the link below.
Finally, here are the Republican State Senators in the leadership that need to hear that this is an important issue across the state (tell them what district you are in and that you vote!) and that SB 304 should get a vote on the Senate Floor:
- Senate President Sen. Robert Stivers II – 502-564-3120
- Majority Floor Leader Sen. Damon Thayer – 502-564-2450
- President Pro Tempore Sen. David P. Givens – 502-564-3120
- Majority Whip Sen. Jimmy Higdon – 502-564-2450
- Majority Caucus Chair Sen. Dan “Malano” Seum – 502-564-2450
Thank you for your support!
