Legalize Kentucky Now has hired a lobbyist to help our efforts in Frankfort. Below is a statement from Mike Ward, our CEO:
“We are excited to announce that we have retained Jason Underwood of Capitol Strategies to help us educate and advocate for this important cause in Frankfort during this session. Jason’s strategic and tactical advice and extensive experience working in the legislative process will be extremely important to ensuring this important issue gets a fair hearing this session. Medically necessary marijuana has bi-partisan support, will help Kentucky’s military veterans suffering from PTSD, ease the suffering of Kentuckians with life-threatening diseases like cancer, and will help decease heroin and prescription drug usage in Kentucky.”
We think Jason Underwood’s addition to the team and efforts in Frankfort will be hugely beneficial to the cause.
What’s Happening in Frankfort?
Legalize Kentucky Now has had many people ask us if there is any news or progress on legalizing Cannabis. Unfortunately, we do not have a lot of new information to share right now. Most, if not all of the movement on this issue will not take place until the end of the session. We’ll continue to update our website and social media with information as we receive it. Our newest piece of information is about Jason Underwood and our continuing efforts in Frankfort.
What You Can Do To Help
We hope to have more concrete ways that the community can help us in the future. Right now, most of the work is being done in the capitol and behind the scenes. The most important thing you can do is to contact your legislator. We need them to hear from real Kentuckians about the issue. If you get a response, please forward it to info@legalizekentuckynow.com. Once we get our legislators on record about the issue, and the special elections take place, we’ll have a better idea on specific community involvement and where our efforts will have the most impact. We’ll keep you updated!
